Kioxia turns its Storage-Next concept into the GP1 SSD

Kioxia announced a PCIe 6.0 NVMe SSD optimized for GPU-direct access, using second-generation XL-FLASH and claiming up to 10 million 512-byte random-read IOPS; selected customer samples are planned by the end of 2026.

Why it matters

GP1 addresses flash-based HBM extension through an SSD and PCIe path rather than an on-package HBF stack. Its performance figures are vendor specifications, not independent measurements.
